ONE-ON-ONE LESSONS
LITA’s Music Program offers highly individualized private lessons for all ages and skill levels, including absolute beginners. Our inspiring music classes are catered just for YOU. Your needs and interests are our #1 priority. We nurture every student with individualized, encouraging one-on-one music instruction. The one-on-one interaction between teacher and student enables an unparalleled level of personalized instruction and is ideal for developing the student’s musicianship skills. New students have the opportunity to meet with the director, or the department head, for a consultation. Assignment of a teacher is determined based on the student’s needs, goals, past experience, and availability. Each student will be assigned to one of our distinguished faculty members, all of whom are accomplished professional musicians and who graduated from music programs such as the Juilliard School, Curtis Institute of Music, Manhattan School of Music, Yale University, Boston Conservatory, Mannes the New School of Music and more.
Duration: 30- minute, 45-minute and 60-minute sessions weekly (Students can sign up for 8 classes, 20 classes and 32 classes)
Ages: 3-adult
Quarterly Review—Every quarter our Music Director reviews the progress of each student, making sure that their work is developing at the proper pace. We strongly encourage students to stay with one teacher for at least a full semester, if not a full year, as that consistency will provides stronger results. Both parents and students are encourage to contact us if they have any issues, and especially if they need extra help.
Performance opportunities—LITA offers two student concerts a school year. Many more concert opportunities around the community.
GROUP LESSONS
Group lessons are a wonderful way to learn music in a communal atmosphere surrounded by peers. Students are able to learn and grow together, as they learn not only from teachers, but from each other as well. A. Group Classes for Kids Do-Ri-Mi
Kids Do-Ri-Mi class gives students the ideal beginning of their musical journey. LITA’s curriculum is designed to make music lessons both fun and educational for young musicians, by encouraging an enthusiasm for music and the foundation on which to build musical skills. Note reading, technique, theory, musicality, and performance skills are all taught in engaging ways that enable students enjoy the process of learning.
Duration: 60 minutes/ 12 classes
B. Group Classes in Music Theory
The theory class is designed to teach students, through a sequential curriculum, basic rhythms, scales, intervals, harmony, sight-singing, dictation, and simple composition. Beginner-level class focuses on the basic musicianship including rhythm and note-reading. Intermediate to advanced-level classes explore scales, intervals, sight-singing, harmony and simple composition. LITA specialize in preparing students for ABRSM Exam Theory Class. 99% of our students get high pass in the exams.
Duration: 90 minutes/ Full semester (20 classes)
NYSSMA AND ABRSM TEST PREP
Students are strongly encouraged to participate the NYSSMA and ABRSM examinations. Both exams are highly regarded and extremely beneficial as extra credentials when applying for college while experiencing the magic power of music. LITA specialize in both test prep, 100% percent of our student pass the tests with excellent score and 98% percent of our student get A+ on their test results.
HOW DO YOU GET TO CARNEGIE HALL
LITA (Long Island Tutoring Academy) is a proud partner of the New York International Competition for young artists which is designed for young musicians and artists on the path to a successful career. The mission of competition is to identify and sustain young talent and to encourage and support excellence in the performance of classical music by showcasing the gifts of young artists. In addition to receiving cash prizes, young artists will be presented at a concert at Carnegie Hall. JULLIARD PRE-COLLEGE AUDITION AND COMPETITION PREP Summer mUSIC FESTIVAL
Students who are interested in auditioning for prestigious music schools, or preparing for national and international music competitions and festivals, will thrive in our rigorous program. We have highly qualified faculty members who are professional musicians as well as graduates of the top schools. They are all eager to share their experience and passion with students who are seeking to make music their profession. In the past, we have had many students accepted to elite programs like the Juilliard School, Curtis Institute of Music, Manhattan School of Music, and many more.
Summer mUSIC FESTIVAL
Each year LITA hosts an annual Summer Chamber Festival. We welcomes all instrumentalists ( Piano, Strings, Woodwind, all Chamber Orchestra Instruments) to share the music together in the summer! GOOD MUSIC, GOOD TIME, AND GOOD MEMORIES! Courses we offer: Chamber Music Groups, Chamber Orchestra, Audition preparations, NYSSMA/All state preparation program, Music theory(Basic-advanced), scales, sight reading/Intensive sight Reading, and etc.
